The Archive…a little shop in South Miami

I wandered into a neighborhood shop called the Archive one day and really was stunned.  Never have I been to a shop like this in my area and I have been here my whole life.  The lovely owner, Ana Mari, greeted me and could not have been more gracious and interesting.  She and her business partner, Alicia, opened their doors a few years ago and what a find!  Alicia scours and searches the nooks and crannies of our own Miami, the rest of Florida and wherever else her insight leads her.  Ana Mari sets the stage and creates the magic found inside the shop. It is ever changing and constantly intriguing.

This handmade dreamcatcher is a recent purchase from The Archive. I was driving by the shop and saw this in the window, stopped everything to find a parking spot to take a look. I hung it shortly after in my daughter’s room and in its beauty alone, it guarantees magical dreams.

Full of local artists (at present @15),  The Archive is more of an experience than a shop.  Of course all is for sale and there is something for any home but the visit truly takes the customer to a different world.  There is a story on every wall and in every corner.  I could (and do) spend hours  in here wandering around and chatting with Ana Mari.

They have an upcoming event next Friday, October 24, from 6:30-8:30 and are featuring Florida’s Highwaymen.  A collection from 26 African American artists from the 1950s-80s.  It should be amazing, The Achieve style.  I hope to see you there!
